You can access the data protection settings in your etracker account via the data protection menu item on the left-hand side of the application.

Data protection notice and objection option

Visitors to your website must be informed about the use of etracker analytics in accordance with the law and be able to exercise their right to object to data processing. A suitable sample text including an objection function is available directly in the account for this purpose, which can simply be copied and pasted into the website.

Visitors can use the slider to object to data processing. The function can also be used by internal employees and external service providers so that their website visits are not included in the reports.

The paragraph can be adopted via the Template tab. The Preview tab displays the function as visitors see it.

Attention

Please make sure that the objection domain corresponds to your correct domain. This will be applied automatically. You can check this under the Template tab. In this example, the objection domain is bypamboli.com:

Tip

To get access to the English (or German if the language setting is English) sample text, you can simply change the language for the application using the language changer. The sample text will then also change.

If an individual design for the objection function is desired or additional language variants are required, click on the Alternative tab to display the function calls for the objection.

Consent-free tracking cookies in accordance with CNIL requirements

In coordination with the French data protection authority CNIL, we have created a setting that allows etracker analytics to be used on websites without consent, even with cookies. To do this, it is necessary to deactivate special reports with granular data. This only affects the following reports:

  • Last visitors
  • B2B recognition
  • Orders

Automatic scroll tracking

The scroll depth measurements for the ScrollMap report are temporarily stored in the session storage so that not every scroll movement leads to a tracking call, but the scroll depth data is “bundled” and sent to etracker every few seconds. As a lot of data can be generated in connection with the scroll depth measurement, this data is only collected on a random basis. Data stored in session storage is not persistent; it is automatically deleted by the browser when the tab is closed.

The use of session storage for scroll depth measurement is not a storage process that requires permission, as it is a purely technical delay in transmission in order not to negatively affect the loading speed and thus the user experience. The storage process can therefore be regarded as technically absolutely necessary in order to guarantee the actual website use at a sufficient speed.

The legal conformity of this procedure was confirmed in the audit by ePrivacy GmbH, which concludes: “In cookie-less mode (standard mode), the use of etracker analytics is lawful in accordance with the GDPR and TDDDG without any obligation to obtain consent.”

Optionally, scroll tracking can also be deactivated via these setting options or linked to prior consent to the setting of cookies for statistical purposes:

Data protection signet

Trust is an important factor for successful websites. The data protection signet therefore offers an excellent opportunity to communicate and prove legal compliance and data protection friendliness to visitors.
