New: OpenAI Tags for Ads in ChatGPT

  • Additional Tag Provider: The Tag Manager now offers OpenAI as an additional tag provider to determine which results are generated by ads in ChatGPT.
  • OpenAI Base Tag: Requires only the pixel ID. If available, the email address and customer ID (coid) are passed as SHA-256 hashes to improve mapping.
  • OpenAI Conversion Tag: Select a standard event from a list, such as lead, order, shopping cart, checkout start, registration, or appointment booking.
  • Custom Events: The Tag Manager suggests conversions that have already been created. Alternatively, you can use the “Custom” option to assign your own event name.
  • Parameters: The following parameters can be optionally provided: value, currency, category, product ID, product name, and quantity. You can use either fixed values or variables. If a value is specified, the currency (default: EUR) is required.
  • No double counting: The conversion ID serves as an event ID so that OpenAI can detect duplicate events.
  • Consent Mode: OpenAI’s Consent Mode is automatically enabled, just as it is with Google and Meta.

Tag Manager: Easier Testing and Management

  • Variable Values in Debug Mode: Instead of just displaying the variable name, debug mode now shows the actual value that each variable has when the trigger is fired.
  • Consent for Tags in Draft Mode: In debug mode (via token or the URL parameter ` et_debug=1`), the Consent Manager also lists tags in draft mode. This makes it easy to test new tags that require consent in advance.
  • Automatic Email Collection: The “User-Provided Data” variable allows you to choose between manual and automatic collection. When set to automatic, a standard “Email” input field is used. If this field is missing from the page, a predefined fallback element is used instead.
  • Export Folder: When you export a folder, all tags, triggers, and variables it contains are automatically included. Previously, only the empty folder was exported.
  • Debug Overlay Troubleshooting: Nested names are now validated in the Debug Overlay in the same way as in Tag Manager.

Google Conversion Upload: Transition to Google Data Manager

  • Google has disabled the previous upload method for new connections. As a result, conversions will now be transmitted via Google Data Manager.
  • New feature: The only attribution option now is “Attribution in Google,” with no dropdown menu. The only setting that can be adjusted is the upload frequency.
  • Existing Connection: Customers who want or need to switch to the connection via Data Manager should change the attribution setting to “Attribution in Google” in the Google Ads Conversion Upload and generate a new source URL. The attribution setting cannot be changed after that.
  • New interface in Google Ads for entering the URL: The URL is entered in the Google Ads account under Tools → Data Manager → HTTPS (previously: Conversions → Uploads → Schedules).

The location map on the dashboard displays the selected metric:

The location map on the dashboard now corresponds to the metric selected in the tabs, such as “Page Views” or “Pages per Visit.” Previously, it always displayed “Visits,” regardless of the selection.

More Accurate Translations

“Entry points” and “exit points” are now called “Entrances” / “Exits” in English (previously “Entry Points” / “Exit Points”) and “Entrées” / “Sorties” in French. These terms are more precise and correspond to the standard terminology used in other analytics tools.
